G-AOVF - Cosford Britannia

Congratulations what a great site. I use to work on the Britannia’s in the sixties. It’s a shame that only four have been saved but that’s better than nothing. I was very pleased to see that VF the one at Cosford was receiving some TLC. Now that the civil collection has almost disappeared what are the plans for a paint scheme for the VF. I saw a recommendation on another site to restore it to the one that was used by the folk at Boscombe Down. I believe that was VM (Team Spirit). That would certainly give us four different colour schemes. Not very keen on the suggestion that it should be painted in the RAF colours there is one already in those colours and VF never flew in military colours. A compromise would be achieved if painted in Boscombe Down colours. Dose anyone know what Cosfords plans are? The Brit at Liverpool seems to be coming along well. It’s a large project and I wish them every success. What a wonderful way to record history. Liverpool (Speke), a Britannia, British Eagle colours.
G-AOVF backdrop for the Queens visit to RAF Cosford
Bristol Britannia G-AOVF Thursday 12th July 2012 Queens visit to RAF Cosford to celebrate Her Diamond Jubilee. VF acts as backdrop for her arrival. Sadly not in the correct colours but at least it is preserved! What a great day this was everything seemed to go like clockwork. Picture via Shropshire Star. The second picture is the archivist at the pageant (in disguise) getting ready for the off.
