What a great find by rog747
Hello there, I found your website through the BAC 1-11 site, my first flight ever was in 1964 to Barcelona on a Brit for my hols! I remember the shoot of flame from the Brits engines on start up! I flew many times then on Brits for other summer hols. I joined court line in 1972 then went onto work for a few charter holiday airlines that all seemed to go bust on me lol! Air Spain, Caledonian, bks/northeast, I then joined British Midland as ops traffic duty officer and we had dc9s, 707s and lots of viscounts! I remember a 707 captain Fred Birkett who was ex eagle? Short funny guy is he still around? I then worked for monarch at LGW as duty officer and my colleague then was roger Hargreaves who I understand owns G-ANCF how do I get in touch with him...? I am 50 now and am retiring from work. When I used to plane spot at Gatwick I often was allowed to wander around the Laker hangars and always went on board the 2 ex eagle 707s zz and dg and were 707-138bs they had 154 seats in them and I flew to Palma and back on them both a few times. I also flew on G-ATZC or d when Caledonian had it and again went to Palma...707-365c 189 seats we did LGW-PMI in 1hr 35 mins flying time...lol! No fuel worries then this is a super site and EG will always have a fond place in my heart as it started my interest in 1964 in airliners and a career which has never faded...I would love to meet some of you if I may come to your gathering in October 2008 regards Roger Aves
