Ex Eagle Apprentices by RED EAGLE
Were you an Eagle Apprentice? We have very little about the apprentice scheme that Eagle set up to train young men to become professional aircraft engineers. If you were an apprentice with Eagle and would be willing to pass on some information about your time with Eagle then contact the archivist on britisheagleint@aol.com.
Re: Ex Eagle Apprentices by Olympic Eagle
Hi Red Eagle Not one myself, but my Best Man in 1970 was (Dennis Powell), as was a flatmate of mine in 1969 (Hamo Sariyan, who later emigrated to Canada). Eagle’s practice then I was led to believe was to licence their ground engineers internally, with the result that when the Company ceased to operate the guys couldn’t get work immediately elsewhere as their authorisations only applied to Eagle. Is this correct?
Re: Ex Eagle Apprentices by RED EAGLE
Hello Olympic Eagle. Thanks for your comments. Eagle Licenced engineers were passed out by the ARB (CAA) so their licence went with them. As with any airline, Eagle also operated an approval system. Individuals were recommended for an approval by their section head, you then went before the airline Chief Inspector or his assistant who examined you technically. If approve you were issued with an approval stamp. This approval could only be used within the Eagle operation with stated limitations. Below is an approval stamp the letters are as follows

For the archives we are seeking to put together a register of all Eagle apprentices. If you were an apprentice would you be kind enough to let us know, giving your name and where you were based (at LHR or Liverpool) also the dates. If you would like to comment on anything relating to the apprenticeship with Eagle then by all means do. It would help if you would, in the first place send any information for the register via the Eagle email address britisheagleint@aol.com Thank you for any assistance.
